Overview

Topaz Labs is best known for Gigapixel (image upscaling), Photo AI (sharpen, denoise, face recovery) and Video AI (upscaling and frame interpolation). Photographers, video editors and archivists use it to rescue low-quality or old footage.

Key features

• AI upscaling of photos and video, up to very high resolutions
• Noise reduction, sharpening and face recovery
• Frame interpolation for smooth slow motion
• Topaz Studio bundle with cloud credits for heavier video jobs

Pricing

In late 2025 Topaz moved to subscriptions. According to the official pricing page, Topaz Studio costs about $399 billed annually (or a higher monthly price), and Studio Pro adds more cloud credits and full commercial use. There is no free plan, but trials are available.

What users say

Users consistently praise the quality of results. Long-time customers were disappointed by the end of perpetual licenses. Reviewers note occasional artifacts on skin, fabric or hair when settings are pushed too far.
